God Can See All of You & It is Good News Aymone Kouame

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:12-13).

As a Christian, does the thought that God can see all of you scare you or make you uncomfortable? It should not. We should rejoice that God sees and knows everything about us.

He Who Did Not Spare His Own Son

Why? You ask. Because:

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—” (Romans 8:32-34).

The one to whom we must give an account is the very one who justified us at the cost of his only son’s life. He is the very one who declares that we are no more condemned and that we are his children in Christ Jesus. Why would we want to hide from him?

Wouldn’t you want your physician to be able to examine every part of you so that he can detect and fix what’s wrong? Better than a good physician, God not only desires to give us good gifts but he also is Sovereign to bring about his purposes. When experiencing deep pain, the thought that God can see it all, even the parts that I can’t fully express or comprehend myself should be a comfort. He can comfort each of us as no one else can. He knows the root cause of all our sins, insecurities, pain and fears in ways that we don’t even know. Who else but God would I want to see so deeply in me? Who else but God would I trust to see all of me?

Search Me, O God, And Know My Heart!

At the end of the day, it comes down to trust. If we say we trust God and what he says about us as his children, we should rejoice at the idea that we are naked and exposed before him. We can trust his Holiness; he will never sin against us. We can trust his steadfast love; Christ died for us even while we were still sinners. We can trust his power; he is sovereign over all things and all people. We can trust his faithfulness; he will bring us to Glory. David certainly delighted in this thought:

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!

You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

(Psalm 139:1-12; 17-18; 23-24, ESV)

His Love will pursue you in the depths of the deep and in the darkest nights!
